01

— Carbon Credit project

Imani has in the past implemented environmental conservation ideas ranging from soil science{conservation tillage},afforestation and reafforestation and energy conservation, all these ideas help reduce emissions and therefore can be used for carbon trade. We therefore have the experience to help carbon credit proponent to trade if we can be supported to hire extension staff and to delivery trainings to communities who will carry out conservation activities in their farms.

02

— Food and nutricional security

Human beings need three meals a day.The meals must be well balanced taking care of all nutritional requirements of the body. Most families cannot afford this particularly widows ,single mothers and orphans headed families. To support such families, Imani CDO has put various interventions in place such as training on sustainable agriculture, provision of farm inputs, training on kitchen gardening and local poultry rearing for affordable meat and eggs.We have also introduced cross breed cows for milk production. We advocate for food and nutritional Security for all.We make efforts to prevent diseases instead of curing. In so doing,we have trained Community Health Volunteers (CHVs)whose title have now changed to Community Health Promoters(CHPs) drawn from various groups/ Communities that we work with. These volunteers work with our groups/Communities to ensure safe water system and use, improve sanitation by ensuring there are pit latrines  as well as dish racks in every homestead.
HIV/AIDS still remain a menace alongside other sexually transmitted infection especially among adolescent boys and girls.Early pregnancy is still rampant among school girls that make them drop out of school while drug and substance abuse make boys drop out of school. To reduce this ,we have come up with Healthy Choices for a better future Program in mixed secondary schools and introduced Heathy Choices Clubs in these schools. We also do advocacy on behalf of communities  on access to affordable health care, availability of drugs and services in health facilities.

04

— We Educate

Basic education is a right of every child of school going age. This is not a reality in Kenya, majority of children especially orphans, children slum areas do not have the privilege to attend early learning. To address this,Imani CDO has supported a number of communities to start schools within reach of orphans and vulnerable children. We have built classrooms, purchased desks, bought books and uniforms and paid school fees for orphans and vulnerable children. We also do advocacy on their behalf for the Government to ensure quality and affordable education for all children.

05

— Environment (Climate Change resilience, mitigation and adaptation), water and sanitation

Our environment is not the same again and yet we have to live  in the that environment.Climate change resilience, mitigation and adaptation must remain our focus. We have promoted tree planting, sustainable agriculture, conservation Agriculture to prevent Green House Gas emission. We particularly have started intervening on large scale by exploring on carbon credit trading. While we have been doing much of the conservation work using the above approaches, this has been in smale scale. To address the critical issue of climate change we now have to scale up the interventions that we have had before. In this area we are calling for serious partnership because  without our environment,we cannot live.Water sources have also dried up because of climate change. We advocate for a conserved environment.

06

— Economic empowerment

We acknowledged that we will not be supporting widows ,orphans and vulnerable children,People living with disabilities and resource poor farmers for ever. There has to be sustainable mechanism put in place.Economic empowerment is the answer. We have conducted various trainings aimed at empowering our clients to have some income generating activities e.g bee keeping for honey and other products , jewellery for necklaces, bracelets and earrings particularly for old women and people living with disabilities. We have also trained youths on event management, commercial farming. What we have done is still not adequate,we need support to increase our capacity so that our sustainability plan is achieved.

07

— Advocacy

You will realize that advocacy is in every interventions. We make sure the voiceless are heard.
